Chairperson & Management Committee

NQACC has a total of 11 Management Committee members from across the region. Due the vast region we cover, NQACC has 7 regional sub-committies.

The regional sub-committies play a major role as the face of the NQACC in the region. They comment on expressions of interest for projects from within their region, act as a conduit for information to and from the region and are an integral part of the NQACC operations. The regional sub-committies meet regularly and report at Management Committee meetings (6 times per annum) on regional development issues.

Chair
Cr Annie Clarke, Burke Shire

In January 2007, Minister Vaile appointed Burke Shire Mayor and NQACC Management Committee member Annie Clarke as the Chairperson for the NQACC.

Cr Clarke entered the political arena in 1994 when she was elected to the Burke Shire Council. In 1997 Annie was elected as Mayor in a bi-election – a position she still holds today. Annie has also been involved with several community organisations such as the CWA, ICPA and the Cattleman’s Union.

In addition to the above, Annie also sits on the Ag Force and Mount Isa TAFE Board as well as Chairing the Counter Disaster Committee for the Gulf.

Annie has lived in the Gulf since 1971 and to this day resides in Burketown with her husband Leslie.

Vice Chair

Cr Ross Lewis, Burdekin

After Chairing the NQACC Burdekin Regional Board for over a year, Councillor Ross Lewis of the Burdekin Shire Council was appointed the position of Deputy Chair of the NQACC Management Committee in January 2007 by Minister Vaile.

Ross has had significant leadership experience having also held positions such as the Vice President of the Ayr Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Road Safety Committee and Deputy Chair of the Burdekin Shire Counter Disaster Management Group.

Since 1992 Ross has been a member of the Ayr Rotary Club and together with his wife Gay he also owns and manages Burdekin Transport Service Pty Ltd.
